RABBIT PUPPET ARMY

The cutthroat revolutionary puppeteers of The Mysterious Rabbit Puppet Army (a three-or-four-member troupe from Carrboro, North Carolina) are going on a one month tour to help do their part to overthrow the ruling social order. They bring with them several fine original puppet parables, plus remixes of a few—er—"standards," including:
• Donny Don’t—A puppet show about security culture
• Jack and the Beanstalk—A dramatic anti-capitalist retelling of the old fairy tale
• Little Red Riding Hood—An animal-centric look at a familiar story
• The Mysterious Rabbit Puppet Army’s Guide To Landing Your Dream Job—Practical tips for weathering the storm in these trying times of economic crisis
The Mysterious Rabbits will also have an absurd quantity of ’zines, posters, stickers, and books. If you live in a small town anywhere along the tour route and would like them to perform there, that can be arranged. The Missoula Oblongata's new play is set just after the Treaty of Versailles. A veteran from the Great War, who is genetically predisposed to cowardice, follows a mysterious letter from his brother to a town that's been swept up by a dance mania. The cowardly veteran befriends a suspicious spider and together they go up against the town doctor, who believes that breakfast (and everything ordinary, for that matter) is beneath love.

July 6-27 in Brooklyn: DRAMA OF WORKS SCHOOL OF PUPPETRY! Drama of Works opens up to you its studio in Fort Greene every Monday evening in July from 7-10pm for a curriculum led by Artistic Director Gretchen Van Lente, Prticipants will learn first-hand about the art of puppetry in this informative and fun series of workshops. Paperhamd Puppet Intervention's 10th annual giant spectacle reclaims fragments of the human story through myth, magic, and puppetry. Every Fri, Sat, and Sun from Aug. 7th through Sept 7th (Labor Day) at the Forest Theatre in Chapel Hill and Sept. 11& 12 at the NC Museum of Art in Raleigh. Show times are all 7 p.m. with a different preshow each night at 6:20. General admission, no advanced ticket sales. Suggested donation $10-15 adults, $7 ages 3-12, 2 and under free.
